What is the difference between best before, best by, and expiration dates?
When can I pick up food from the Food Basket?
It is important to understand the various dates on your food products to make informed decisions about what you consume. Please see the link below for a resource from the Government of Canada on understanding food date labels.​

We are open for clients Tuesdays from 9:00am to 11:30am. If it is a storm day or there is a school closure, we will be open on Wednesday. You’ll need a piece of ID with your name and address on it, and a Medicare/health card for all members living in the household. (If you don’t have Medicare cards please bring proof of address for everyone). We won’t turn away first time clients, but we will ask that you have the required documentation with you for your next visit. You must also follow current Covid Protocols.
Are we taking donations?
Yes! Food and financial donations are appreciated and are accepted on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 to 12. For more information click here.
How do I organize a fundraising event for the Food Bank?
We appreciate your generosity! Please contact us directly at 506-847-5854 or kvfoodbasket@gmail.com and we can provide you with up to date fundraising/donation information.
I’d like to volunteer! How can I help?
Thank you for your interest! Our volunteers must be available daytime hours, able to lift heavy objects up and down stairs, and adhere to confidentiality and workplace policies and procedures. If you would like to add your name and contact information to our volunteer list, please email the information to kvfoodbasket@gmail.com. We will call you when we require volunteers to see if you're still interested.
What does the KVFB do with the information gathered from clients?
When registering with the KVFB, clients are required to share some personal information. Volunteers are required to sign confidentiality agreements and will not disclose any client information without the direct consent of the client. The KVFB will communicate general demographic information to Food Banks Canada in order to receive financial assistance and improve the quality of goods and services that the client receives.
